White spots on throat -- strep tests negativeFrom: Zoe (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 22 Jul 2003 23:05:49 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, About a month ago today I went into the doctor because I was really ill. He said I didn't have step, but gave me an antibiotic (z-pak) to kill the bacteria. About 14 days after that visit, my throat was really sore again. I looked at it in the mirror with a flashlight and saw about 4-5 tiny white patches on my right tonsil, so I set another doctor's appointment. This time, the doctor said nothing was wrong with me at all and totally dismissed the spots on my throat saying I must have had a virus. So, I went home and tried to relax about it. Now, one month later, my throat has still been sore since then, and now my whole right tonsil is pretty white (not just little spots). I'm getting really worried and frustrated because I hate living day-in and day-out with a sore throat, and what if it's serious? I don't have any other symptoms, so it's almost killing me not to know what's going on. Though, every time I go to the doctor, they look at me for 2 seconds, say I'm fine and to "take Robitussin", and send me on my way -- white spots or not -- so I don't want to keep paying a doctor's co-pay and get no solution. Can someone please give me a little insight as to what may be going on, or give me some advice? Thanks,
-- Zoe
