I remember my Dr. told me to take the pill 5 days after my period but it just didn't seem right after asking many of my friends how they were taking theirs. So today I called the Dr. and was able to speak with his secretary/receptionist she told me to start taking the pill 5 days after the starting day of my period. I already had my period this month and also ended and I did not take the pill as I should have, according to the receptionist. I got my period on the 11th and it ended on the 16th which was when I should have started the pill again. The receptionist told me to start it today. I had sex the 17, 19 and 20th should I be worried? Can you tell me if the way Im taking the pill is right or wrong? >thanks, I would appreciate your response. > >Bertha If you are on a 21 pack you should start a new pack of pills exactly 7 days after you finish the old pack. For example, if you start the pills on a Sunday for the first cycle and take them for 21 days your last day will be a Saturday. If you had a 28 pack there would be 7 placebo pills for you to take that would cover the next 7 days, Sunday through Saturday. On the Sunday that you would have run out of placebo pills you would start a new pack. Perhaps you could ask your doctor for a pack of 28 pills, it is easier to keep track that way. After the first pack of pills it doesn't matter where in your period you are, you always start the new pack 7 days later. Good Luck!
