I don't know about Ortho Novum or LoOvral, but I had breakthrough bleeding and some nausea on Mircette. The first 8 months were fine, but for the next 4 months I had periods that lasted 2 or 3 weeks. Switched to NuvaRing and problem solved - no more side effects. I understand that the low dose of estrogen in Mircette is not always sufficient to control bleeding in some women. Not everybody has this side effect though. The best time of day to take it is whenever is most convenient for you, or the time you will be most likely to remember it. That's the important thing. I always remembered best if I took it right when I brushed my teeth in the morning. If you have nausea after taking it, it might be better to take it before bed so you sleep through it.
