I am 28 In July. My doctor said I can have a hysterectomy. I have to call him in two weeks to let him know what date I would like to do it on. My husband has a vasectomy and we have two boys ages 5.5 and 7 in June. I do not mind having a hysterectomy at all. I have been spotting or bleeding 11 days per month for 3.5 years. I'm tired of it. I can't tolerate oral contraceptives...I let the doctor know we can't tolerate this as an option (hence the hysterectomy). However....Ive been reading about Mirena....would Mirena be a better option for this before doing hysterectomy? I realize it causes lots of spotting the first 3 months...but what is the typical amount of bleeding days after that each month? I am concerned about weight gain and depression also.....can anyone give me advice on this? Thanks.....
