As an OBGYN, I do not feel that it is appropriate to force my religious,
theological, moral, philosophical beliefs off on to any of my patients.
Prior to any treatment, I discuss these issues with my patients at great
length. If they insist on something that is medically harmful to them
or morally objectionable to me, then I try to refer them to someone who
is willing and able to goalong with the patients wishes.
Most AAPLOG members will never even discuss an abortion with anyu of
their patients, even if it is the best thing for the patient. And if
the patient suggests it, they won't refer the patient to where it can be
done.
To me, this is ethically incorrect.
