more micronor/spotting ?'s... :-(From: sameasalways (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 19 May 2003 16:32:37 -0500 (CDT)
I was wondering what would happen or why you can't substitute micronor for the stronger progesterones for use during the 5 to 10 days of the month. Also...The doctor said the sporadic treatment such as that is for women who are not having periods at all (not my case). I just would like to be able to tell my period when to stop so it wouldn't go on for 11 days. I know I will not take the pill (oral contraceptive or POP) for the rest of my life, no matter what. Also, since I am not nursing and I have very heavy bleeding for 3 days each month (and spotting for 2 days prior and spotting for 8 days after) then when is the best time to start taking micronor if you're not taking it 10 days/month? I took my first pill today 5 days prior to my cycle starting...my ankles are swollen up and I hate it. Other than that and lower abdominal bloating and a one lb. weight gain I haven't had anything else happen yet. Would it make sense to even prescribe micronor to someone who has so much spotting each month? I've heard micronor actually causes spotting? What does it do to your estrogen levels the first half of the cycle and the LH surge? It doesn't cease ovulation most of the time so I don't understand the purpose of it other than for those seeking birth control and the pasty cervical fluid that results. What does it do to your endometrium ? What causes the breakthrough bleeding to occur while on micronor?
