4th deg episiotomy problemFrom: Craig (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 11 May 2003 20:00:24 -0400
Hello, 10 months ago I had a 4th degree episiotomy & forcep delivery. Ever since then I've had issues with my rectal area. Every time I go to the bathroom, my rectum (intestines, something??!) hangs out. It is about the size of a golf ball. It is very uncomfortable & takes about an hour to get back in. It makes cleaning myself very difficult & going to the bathroom painful. Also, It never seems to go all the way back in - no matter what, it still hangs out a little (about the size of a dime). Not only does it happen when I go to the bathroom, but also when I exercise, or pick up my child, or any time I may strain a little. Is this a common problem? Is there a name for it? How is it normally resolved? I plan on having another child in the near future, what issues should I consider. Thank you, RT
