Please...stroke, hemochromatosis ?'s, physicians, anyoneFrom: AD (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 4 May 2003 08:52:28 -0500 (CDT)
29yo female...dx with pcos 10 yrs ago. Have seen numerous Endos who "ruled out" Insulin Resistance with fasting insulin & glucose. Irregular cycles corrected with bcp only. Migraines maybe once every other month or so from 1993-1998 Eventually they stopped, so I stopped the Midrin. On 4/9 of this year:taken to the ER with sharp shooting pains through the left side of the head, l vision blurred,l eye drooping, watering and weekness to the left side of body. ER doc ordered CAT scan, MRI...which he found nothing. Neuro later explained what I experienced was most likely a small string of migrainous stroke. ER physician had me on Tegretol which I was on for 3 days until blood vessels on chest and stomach went crazy...told to stop Tegretol. Neuro switched me to Topamax. Been on the 25mg for 3 weeks now. GP comments that my iron is "through the roof" and to see a new Endo. New Endo runs labs for Hemochromatosis...Iron was @ 205...now 41...GP thinks it may be "Iron Poinsoning" but not sure how that would've happened. "maybe we'll test again in 6 mos" she said. Other symptoms: achiness all over, week, exhaused, diarrhea since Sat, back ache, chest ache, wheezing to the point that I took puffs off my dh Albuterol (sp?) Any thoughts, please? Comments? Suggestions? I've since stoppend (on my own) the topamax and orthocept. Hopefully, I'll be able to have a cycle without the Orthocept. Am I going about this all wrong? Also, I've heard on other boards there is a website you can go to to print a form and take to a lab where they with do labs at your own request and not with physicians orders only....does this exist? Thanks so much!
