separation of symphasis pubisFrom: Mary (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 Apr 2003 10:43:29 -0500 (CDT)
When I had my second (large) son 2 1/2 years ago, I was diagnosed with pubic symphasis separation. My young Doctor was unfamiliar with the condition and prescribed the usual conservative treatment of bedrest (which was all I could do anyway). My chiropractor suggested a pelvic binder (severe girdle). This condition never improved, and is now getting progressively worse. I have revisited my OB, who says there is a laser surgery which can be done, but she is unfamilar with that also. My chiropractor has said she can do nothing else for it. What excruciating PAIN! Worsened by the slightest shift of weight, pushing, pulling, sexual activity or lifting. I am only 29 and have a very active, and otherwise contented life. However this is starting to affect every aspect of my life. That I am reduced to sit infront of my computer, begging for medical advice instead of enjoying the beautiful day with my toddler, is nothing short of gloomy.
