Re: 2 methods of birth controlFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 Apr 2003 01:15:39 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Allison, Going by the book, if u take your BCP on time and as prescribed, u WILL NOT get pregnant. Hence the doctors will always tell u that taking BCP gives u 100 % protection (No offenses meant to the medical proffession). However in real life situations, I have read a lot about women getting pregnant while being on BCP and doctors will have no explaination to it because they personally do not monitor your taking of pills. Hence the bottomline is ... if you just cannot afford to have a pregnancy .. then use pills and condoms both . On the other hand, if you do not want pregnancy but ,say 1 chance in a million, if it does happen and it will not shake your world apart .. then u can go ahead with taking only pills. Infact a lot of women have been able to avoid pregnancies with pills for years, but u never know which side of the odds are u falling. No contraceptive method (except abstinence) is 100% sure .. but pills have the best success rate among all methods . Just my two cents..... Rachel
