post c-section complications

In response to the posting from Marcus Rees Roberts, dated 4/6/01, I also had extreme abdominal pain after a c-section in 1993. It turned out that I had a volvulus of the colon. I was being treated in the hospital by a team of doctors and none of them diagnosed the problem. I called my primary physician at her office and begged for help. By the time an xray was ordered, my bowel exploded as they got me out of bed for the xray. What are the possible causes of these bowel "twistings" after c-sections? Since the bowel resection, I have now had 2 hernias - one small and now a very large ventral hernia - which also was missed by several physicians. What recourse do I have in the future when I suspect a serious condition and my physician doesn't take me seriously?
