Hormone changes and fibromyalgia--Dr./anyone

I've been trying to find information on any connection between fibromyalia flareups and changes in hormones and have had no luck so far. I just found out recently that I was diagnosed about 10 years ago with fibromyalgia but the Dr. never told me that's what it was. At the time I was having a great deal of trouble with mild right lower quadrant pain, an enlarged ovary, a ruptured cyst (all of which I was seeing my gyn about) as well as sleep problems, tension, muscle aches, etc. (which I was seeing my GP about)--the GP diagnosed the FMS. I had also just started taking birth control pills for the first time a few months before and stopped taking them about a year later. Recently I have been having trouble with the same pain again only this time my GP thinks I might be starting to go through perimenopause because of changes in my cycle and my period. I've had problems once in a while with minor aches and pains since the first diagnosis, but usually not too major and usually short-lived, until my problems with cycle changes, etc. started in Sept.--and they've only gotten worse. I've had severe neck stiffness and muscle pain, as well as lower back pain with ovulation, over the last couple of weeks in addition to the other problems.

Long story, short questions! Is it possible that a change in hormones, either natural or because of BCP's, could cause a flareup of symptoms in women with fibromyalgia? Could fibromyalgia cause pain that might be mistaken for ovary pain?
