Breast soreness disappeared after IVF?From: anonymous@obgyn.netMon, 7 Apr 2003 09:29:08 -0500 (CDT)
Hi - I wanted to check and see if anyone could confirm for me what I think is a failed IVF. I had a 5-day-transfer of some blastocysts and had sore breasts for several days from the retrieval until just a day or so ago. They stopped hurting about 10 days after retrieval (which would be considered about 10 days past ovulation). My guess (even though I have not yet had the beta test to see if the IVF worked) is that since I had lots of eggs retrieved, I then had 10-15 corpus luteums (leftover from where the eggs had grown) that were producing progesterone, in case a pregnancy should arise. But at 10 days after ovluation, the body determines that no pregnancy can be seen, and the corpus lutea start to shut down and shrivel up. No more progesterone is produced by them and therefore no sore breasts. Does that sound about right? Can anyone think of any other reason why the soreness would suddenly disappear 10 days after ovulation?
