Re: lump in breast at age 18From: Christine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 7 Apr 2003 08:27:35 -0500 (CDT)
Ashley, At age 14 and age 23, I had two breast cysts removed. They were called "fibroadenomas" and are very common in young women. No, mine did not move freely and they were fairly close to the surface of the breast. They were hard and no fluid would come out of them (although I did have a fluid filled cyst right next to it). Please do not fret, it is EXTREMELY rare for a woman your age to have breast cancer. This other situation is MUCH more common. I know how afraid I was though at the time. Please do a search on fibroadenoma of the breast and see if this sounds like what you have. Christine
