M,

I wouldn't call it pre-menopause, but I'm not a doctor. When I was about 35 my periods shortened for many months and then eventually went back to normal without any treatment. My family practice doctor didn't call it perimenipause but did mention it was related to hormonal changes as we age. I'm 46 now and still am not near menopause according to my gynecologist. I haven't been on Xenical, but significant weight loss might affect cycle length, I'd suspect. Bleeding/spotting can indicate a number of different conditions, among them fibroids. If you have an appointment fairly soon, I'd bring up the spotting. If you don't have an appointment for an annual exam soon, I'd give your doc a call with any concerns you have. It could be nothing, or perhaps they'll ask you to come in for a PAP. Best wishes.
