Laporoscopy will create further scarring if scarring already a problem?

I am scheduled to have a laporoscopy to investigate lower left abdominal pain. Two ultrasounds have shown no problem other than follicular cysts. The doctor thinks my pain is from scarring from a recent tubal ligation. I have been advised that this exploratory surgery could make matters worse. The pain is not extreme, but bothersome. It resonates from my left ovary to my left leg groin, and down my leg. I am learning to live with it and would hate to have it get any worse, but some of my friends think I shouldn't risk NOT exploring the pain, since I am 47 and have not had children. I'd love to hear some more feedback. Thanks so much.
