Confused--why couldn't a lesion be biopsied?From: aimee (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 3 Apr 2003 03:34:22 -0600 (CST)
Is there any particular reason that a biopsy of a lesion on an ovary wouldn't be possible? I had a laparoscopy done in Jan. to find out if my various symptoms might be endometriosis. After the lap my GYN said he didn't find anything but when I got a copy of the surgery report it said he found "lobulation" of, and a 1cm "lesion" on, my left ovary and said he didn't know if it was endo or not. He also noted a small hemorrhage and that he had lasered the lesion as a precaution--said he considered a biopsy but couldn't. Isn't it pretty standard to do a biopsy, especially if there is any question as to what a lesion is? Even if it's reasonably certain what it is, shouldn't a biopsy be done for confirmation? I'm a little scared as to what it was, am still having problems (have been for over 8 months), and much of the information I've recieved so far from the GYN has been contradictory. I'm just not sure what to think and would appreciate any information you can give. Thank you so much!
