Surgery Recovery

Hello I had an Abdominal Hysterectomy, Bilateral Salpingo OOpherectomy in mid-December 2002 for the removal of multiple large Fibroids.

My concern/questions has to do with expected recovery timelines and symptons.

Since my surgery, I still have the following symptons: _ My lower abdomen including the insession is still very tender swollen and NUMB. _ My right side is much more Tender. (Note: Was there a falopian tube removed there, also I sleep on this side). _ I still have discomfort when I bend down and my energy-level seems to have decreased. _ I have daily, usually if any clothing touch or press against the area, a stinging sensation below the incession.

Questions: NOTE: I have gone in for a post-surgery exam in early post-surgery exam in early March 2003. My physician said to give my recovery more time. I feel that I have given sufficient time, but there is NO apparent improvement that I can tell (Am I being IMPATIENT- I just don't know and I certainly did not expect these results to be lingering this long !!).

1. Are the symptons described above for this type of surgery normal? What are some other symptons or limitations to expect, if any?

2. What is the average timeline for post surgery recovery? Note I am a runner and I did start jogging only four weeks after surgery. Would this have caused any of the above symptons. I have stopped running, now only walking for the past 1.5 weeks, still NO noticable differences.

Please, Please advise me on my recovery and expectation.

Thank you very much LD
