Information on dermatoid cyst

Dear Doctors,

In January 2003 I found out I had a 6cm mass growing in my right ovary due to pelvic/abdominal pains. My OBGYN ordered me to undergo a laproscopy w/ a possible laprotomy. She ended up doing a laprotomy because the mass was "too big". The following week I went in for a follow-up visit and she told me that it was a dermatoid cyst over 6cm that she had taken out of my ovary. But also said, she did not expect to see/find what she did when they took out the mass. She said it was a big ball of hair, fat, and teeth. My mouth dropped to the floor because I have never heard of a cyst containing hair, and especially teeth! She said the reason why I had the growth is because of chemical imbalances or something to do with irregular periods. I have never had irregular periods before, except 3-4 months before December 2002, which by coincidence was the last time I had sexual intercourse (unprotected).

When I tell my friends and family about what my OBGYN found when she took out the mass they ask me if it was a baby or tell me it was a baby. My question is could it have been possible that I was pregnant, and the mass was indeed a baby? Is it possible for sperm to fertilize an egg within an ovary? Do dermatoid cysts usually consist of hair, teeth, and fat? How fast do dermatoid cysts usually grow? and is there any chance in the future I will have more growths?

Thank You for your time.
