emergency contraceptive questionFrom: Beth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 31 Mar 2003 22:38:39 -0600 (CST)
I am 22 years old, in a 3 year relationship (engaged!) and I am a very regular pill user- was on alesse for a year, and now on lo-ovral for the last 4 months...I take it at 10pm each night. For the first time in this year and a half, I missed a pill- I took it with the pill the next night (2 on one day)- I missed the pill on the 7th day of pill taking (Monday). I had intercourse with a condom on day 5 of pill taking (Saturday). During intercourse, he did not come inside of me at all (he couldnt finish...), the condom was on before anything happened, and I took the pill beforehand and the night after on schedule. I then had intercourse on day 14 of pill taking with a condom again and there was a white residue on the condom- it could have been from me, but we were not sure- we did not find any holes in the condom upon inspection. I called the 888 not 2 late number and they told me that I can (if i want to) take 4 of my bc pills within 72 hours of intercourse then 4 12 hours later since i missed one pill and i felt crampy in the middle of my cycle, which never happens. My question is, when should i expect my period to begin now? And do I continue to take my bc pills daily (at 10 pm) throughout the rest of my cycle, or do i stop taking them until I begin bleeding (the sunday after)? I have heard both sides... Thank you!
