Vaginal allergy?From: anonymous@obgyn.netMon, 31 Mar 2003 19:52:41 -0600 (CST)
I have a condition that was diagnosed by my ob/gyn as an allergic reation; however it's persisted for four weeks now, and shows no signs of going away. The symptoms started about two months after I began having sex with a boyfriend (previously hadn't been sexually active in a while). It began with pain in my vulva; in a day I was itching as with a yeast infection, but without heavy discharge. Soon the itching and prickly pain was almost unbearable. The area around the inner labia is red and a little swollen, and is irritated to the touch. I discontinued taking the birth control pill and vitamins; stopped using soap on the region; even switched toilet paper. I've been using a steroid cream for about 2 weeks, to little improvement. I had a test come back negative for HPV, and positive for beta strep. Any thoughts on why this is taking so long, or what it could be besides an allergy?
