A period after 2 yearsFrom: Janice (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 31 Mar 2003 11:43:27 -0800
Dear Womens-Health, I had my last period in March 2001. I am 50 years old now, pushing 51. I had a relatively easy time, just the hot flashes that would come and go but nothing dreadful. Felt pretty good in my self. Took evening primrose oil capsules (1 sometimes 2 X 500mg a day) and calcium tabs and ate properly. Last week I noticed my breasts were tender, especially the nipples. Ignored it. About 4-5 days later I got a period and now I have the full 9 yards, including a bad backache this morning and it looks like I'm going to have a 'proper' period after 2 years without. I even got a migraine with nausea yesterday to complete matters. I went to my doctor first thing this morning and he's going to do some sort of uterine(?) test on Wednesday but in the meantime what could be the cause for this burst of hormonal/ovarian activity? I am totally worried and paranoid about the whole thing. What can you tell me in the meantime. Looking forward to your considered response. Thanks in advance. Janice Casserly.
