Impact of endometrial adhesions on colonoscopy

At age 30 I had a hysterectomy because of an ovarian cyst and very severe endometriosis with the worst adhesions my OB-GYN said he had ever seen.

My doctor has recommended I have a colonsocpy for routine screening. I met with a gastroenterologist who said that the presence of severe adhesions would most likely make it difficult if not impossible to complete and colonoscopy and that the procedure would be very painful because of the adhesions. Is this a valid concern for me?

If this is a valid concern, would a virtual colonoscopy be a better alternative? I understand that they are not as accurate and that if they saw something they would have to perform a regular colonoscopy. However, if they couldn't even complete a regular colonoscopy because of the adhesions, what would I gain by have one performed?

I would appreciate any recommendations and/or advice. Thanks
