Should I have cerclage surgery?

I have had 5 first-trimester abortions years ago and I am now 12 weeks pregnant. I also have a 20 year old daughter as a result of a normal, healthy pregnancy and birth (she was born before the abortions). My obgyn wants me to have a cerclage placed just in case I have an incompetent cervix. Upon examination and ultrasound, my cervix is fine. I went for a 2nd opinion and that specialist told me that they never recommend cerclage for someone with my history, but that they would monitor my cervix twice a month via ultrasound. I have two opposing views and have to make a decision. Help!
