I doubt this is true- if the gynecologists are leaving out steps in the process they would be setting themselves up for malpractice. You don't have to wait for months to see a gynecologist if you have an urgent matter. Usually you can be seen that day or the next day. For routine exams, simply make your next appointment at the time of your current exam, or just plan to call a few months ahead.
