My periods are usually very heavy and last about 9 - 10 days. The blood associated with my period almost always has some level of clotting with it, but I have never found it to be at an alarming level. This period, however, there seems to be almost no flow of red blod. Everything is almost black in colour, and it is coming out in the form of very large dark blood clots. Can someone help me in determining what this means? I have von Willebrand's Disease, which is a mild bleeding disorder that prevents me from clotting when I am bleeding (say from a cut or a nose bleed), and this has been used to explain my heavy periods. What can account for the lack of free flowing blood and the extremely large dark blood clots I am experiencing? Note: Can someone e-mail me back if possible? This was my first time on this website, and I do not know how to check posted messages. Thanks Lisa Pearcey
