>The risk of getting ovarian cancer is not high. The problem is, there's no reliable method yet to detect the disease early when it's nearly always curable.That's why it's often recommended to take them if you're having surgery anyway (uterus), and if you are also close to menopause. I made the decision 3 years ago at age 43 not to remove my ovaries, as I wanted to go through a natural (less severe) menopause rather than a sudden, surgical menopause, and I felt my chance for getting the disease was low. Good luck with your surgery.
