Hi Cathy, Does it feel like a cord? Is it tender? It might be what I had after my hyst, and that is phlebitis (blood clot). You should bring it to your doctors attention to make sure, but don't get to worried if that is what it is. Usually if it is in a superficial vein in the the arm it is not as dangerous as when you have it in a deep vein in your leg. They had me put heat on it and I can't remember if I took motrin or not to help thin the blood a little. I know mine came because I had a transfusion, but they can happen with IVs in general.
