The role of the uterus in metabolism?

A friend of mine , who has gained a considerable amount of weight after a hysterectomy, was told by her doctor that this is expected because the uterus is muscle and muscle burns more calories than other tissue. He says she will continue to gain weight until she builds up muscle elsewhere in her body. I find this hard to believe, as I too have had a hysterectomy, and have had no problem controlling weight. Neither of us takes hormones as we have ovaries.

Doctors, do you agree with what her doctor said?
