Re: Ovarian Pain after Hysterectomy?From: D.N. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 3 Mar 2003 10:39:47 -0600 (CST)
Hi Hazel, I am not a doc, but I am surprised that you are on HRT even though you still have an ovary remaining. I only have a small piece of an ovary left and it still functions and I am not on any hormone therapy. I am perimenopausal. If you don't feel right you should certainly see your doc, but unless you have had blood tests that show you are menopausal, I would strongly question the use of HRT. If they did the blood tests only once right after surgery, it could have showed that you were in the menopausal range because sometimes the ovaries temporarily shut down right after surgery and then proceed to function normally. This is just my gut feeling, but I think getting off the hormones for a time and then having your blood tested would be a good idea. I thought I was menopausal(blood tests and symptoms) after my last surgery (and I really should have been but they didn't get all of my ovary out), but I was ovulated 4 months after surgery. Best wishes, D.N.
