Vaginal BumpFrom: Katie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 27 Feb 2003 21:38:27 -0600 (CST)
A few weeks ago when I shaved my vagina I noticed a little red bump. I noticed it when I accidently shaved over it. Needless to say, it hurt. I didn't really know what it was or what to expect, but I just figured it would go away soon. I shaved again since I first saw it, and noticed it'd gotten bigger and a bit more red/purplish. I shaved once more earlier this afternoon and it's still there. It's about the size of a pencil eraser end, and located on the skin right above the opening of my vagina. I accidently shaved over it again this afternoon and it bled for a moment. I've gotten little red bumps before (that sort of resemble pimples) when I've shaved down there... but nothing like this that has lasted this long. Does anyone know what it could be? I mean should I make an appointment with my gyno and talk to him about it? There's also this spot farther up down there where my thigh creases in sort of.. it's a sore that's sort of purplish, but not an open sore like the other. Just a raised area about the size of two nickels side by side. It doesn't hurt and it sort of "tough". The purpleness is a bit of discolouration under the skin, it looks like. Someone suggested it could be an ingrown hair, but I don't know what that looks like to tell. I'm 18, not sexually active, and I shave my pubic hair every couple weeks maybe. What are these spots?! How can I treat them?!
