Re: a D&C and etopic preg in a matter of 8 days?From: Rae (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 27 Feb 2003 13:42:52 -0600 (CST)
In July 01 I discovered I was pregnant, I went to my ObGyn and he confirmed and I asked that he perform a sonogram to see if everything was ok? Saw the picture of the embryo in my uterus. on the 11th and by the 16th I was in the ER and was told it was abnormal and a D&C needed to be performed I consented and was in a awful lot of pain in the lower center of my belly. Well left the hopital the next morning and went home. In the next week the pain was very bad and called the Dr and he said well your all cleaned out and don't know what it could be and would not give me anything else for pain. Well within by the 24th I was back in the ER and had terrible pain in my left side. I was later informed that the embryo was in my tube and had burst and the tube and the embyro was removed on that date. Now my question right away was how can that be? was it twins? I was told no that the HCG levels were not high enough. At my follow up I was informed that no fetal tissue had been found in the D&C. Now my question is: How does a pregnancy in the uterus after a d&c now become etopic? We all know it doesn't jump around in there and want to know what could have caused this? Could he have shoved it up in my tube at the time of the D&C? Any explainations are welcome. When I asked the Dr he stated he did not know and it was a freak occurance. That isn't sitting well with me and would like some answer's Thank you in advance
