2nd post--pls help! Partner source of recurrent yeast??From: anon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 26 Feb 2003 09:02:28 -0600 (CST)
I have had 5 yeast infections since October, very evenly spaced and predictable (about 4 wks between each). All have been diagnosed by microscope and/or culture. Treatments (have taken Diflucan and Sporanox at different times) clear up each one, and then I get a new one. During this same period, I switched from Aleese (no yeast problems with that, but annoying discharge), to Ortho Tri Cyclen to Nor QD. I have, as of yesterday, switched back to Aleese in the hopes that will help. Dr. #1 wants to test my boyfriend, who has no symptoms, for yeast. Dr. #2 suggested giving him one Diflucan and see if that helps—dr. #1 said if boyfriend has yeast, one Diflucan wouldn’t be enough to clear it up. I have read so many differing opinions on the subject of treating partners for recurrent yeast infections, I don’t know what to believe. However, opinions seem to lean heavily toward it not making any difference. The testing dr. #1 wants to do involves three cultures…before I consider subjecting my boyfriend to that, I want to make sure that is the only option as far as helping me out. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
