I am confused as to why you would need a pediatrician until after the
baby is born. pediatricians generally see children birth to age 12 an
ob/gyn will care for you during the pg. Some Family Practice physicians
will not see newborns and
it varies on there skills if they are able to be there for the pg. My
suggestion would be to find an ob/gyn and when seeking a family doctor
ask the age that a child can start seeing him or her. You can find alot
of good pediatricians (for the baby after its born)by asking friends or
the hospital will have one check the baby at birth and many times you
will be allowed to use that one or one that is in practice with him or
her for future care especially if it's your first baby. Hope that this
helps to clear up some of the confusion for you. ob/gyns deal with
women issues and can provide a pre pg physical as well as offer advice
and or referrals during and after pg. Hope this helps God Bless and
good luck with ttc.
