13 years of spottingFrom: Teresa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 24 Feb 2003 23:42:10 -0600 (CST)
I am 39, have Hashimotos Thyroiditis diagnosed at 14 and take a daily thyroid supplement. I have been having spotting between periods since age 27. I have been on and off almost every kind of birth control out there over the years including Lunelle, Lupron (which I still spotted through all 6 months of shots) and now the Ortho Evra patch for 8 months. I have a regular cycle at the end of the 3rd patch, have 10 days free and clear and then it all begins again and continues through my cycle. In the past I have had bleeding on intercourse. I have had every kind of test imaginable including vaginal, uterin and ovarian biopsies, ultrasounds, etc. According to all of the test results there is nothing wrong with me. Well, something's got to be wrong. I'm sick and tired of this situation. I keep wishing for menopause but I'm afraid I'm still spotting . . . should I consider a hysterectomy? Any other ideas?
