Menstrual MigrainesFrom: Destiny (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 24 Feb 2003 08:25:56 -0600 (CST)
The day before I start my period, I have a horrible migraine. I have infrequent migraines anyway, but this is completely different. Usually a 50 mg dose of Imitrex is enough to help, but when I get these particular headaches, nothing helps. I have to go to the hospital and get injections of either Imitrex or Toradol and also Pheregan for vomiting, before my headache will go away. I'm assuming these headaches are due to the change in hormones. Is there anything I can do to avoid getting these headaches? When I was on continous birth control, I didn't have any of these headaches, and the day before I started spotting (while on birth control) I also got one of these headaches, so I am positive that is what brings them on. Thanks!
