tetracycline allergy

I have been recently diagnosed with a mycoplasma infection. The doctor has prescribed doxycycline. I need to speak to him on Monday since I just realized that this is part of the tetracycline family and I one developed a minor skin rash on my torso from a one time dose of tetracycline.

I am anxious because if I cannot take the doxycycline, I am worried that there are no other antibiotics to treat mycoplasma. Are there any? If not, can a person be desensitized in some way in order to take it?

Thanks in advance.
