Misplacement of IUD

From: Josie (anonymous@obgyn.net)

I just found out yesterday that the reason I had such a painful IUD insertion (first time) was that the nurse practicioner put it in my pelvis and not my uterus. Now I'm going to have to have surgery to remove it. I am naturally very upset about this. They are filing a claim with their insurance company and sending me to the "best" doctor. Of course I don't completely trust them now but they say that they are no long term effects from this. Can you please just give me some guidance on this?

Thank you, Josie
