Low blood pressure and pregnancyFrom: Jas (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 20 Feb 2003 15:14:25 -0600 (CST)
I have always had low blood pressure, which has not really been a problem for me until now. I am 14 weeks pregnant with my first baby and for the last 9 weeks have been extremely dizzy whenever I stand up quickly, or when I stand for a long time ( I am a teacher and am on my feet a lot). My doctor has found me my blood pressure is extremely low (80 over 60 at my last visit). She tells me that small amounts of coffee can help to raise my blood pressure, and this has been moderately successful so far at reducing my dizzyness and near fainting (I'm drinking about 1 cup a day, spread throughout the day). Is there anything else I can do to raise my blood pressure? I'm not a big fan of coffee. Thank you!
