Daniel Braun, MD: "Re: first late period / pregnancy possibility / other causes?" hello. i'm writing this on behalf of my 22 year old girlfriend. We practice safe sex with a combination of a condom and the withdrawal methods. (at the same time) Her cycle is usually 28 days long and last cycle beginning Janurary 19th. As of today, February 20th, she has yet to get her period. She has never been late before, and we are concerned about the possibility of pregnancy, although she has shown no other symptoms. We don't really see any way that it would be possible for her to have concieved (we are extremely careful and fearful). She has done some exercising and a slight change in diet the past month and has been under some stress the past few weeks, however, nothing out of the ordinary that i would think (keep in mind i'm not a doctor) would postpone her period. she said that she feels some swelling and a small "lump" on the back of her vagina and it seems somewhat dry. any comments on what the delay of period could be caused from, or if any symptoms lead to any conclusions would be greatly appreciated. just very concerned. thanks in advance.
