It is not unusual for ovaries to just temporarily (not permanently) shut down or not function completely right after surgery. Then after a little bit of time, they resume full function. I would be the first to agree that ovaries don't usually shut down forever- I have ovarian remnant syndrome (just a small piece of an ovary left) it is still works.
