Re: [Birth Control] birth control and allergies???From: Betty (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 16 Feb 2003 07:52:51 -0600 (CST)
My daughter has a definite birth control pill allergy, her doctor thinks it is the synthetic progesterone, like Monica below, she gets severe hives and needs to stop the pill/patch. She has tried several different brands and doses but the allergy always results. She has PCOS/Insulin resistant syndrome and severe acne with amenorrhea. When she would take the pill, the allergy always began after 4 or 5 days and she would need to stop and even take prednisone for the hives. But even with that short amount of time on the pill she would still get a period and her face would begin to clear. Is there any natural hormone pill or solution out there that anyone is aware of? Please respond.
