?? DOCTORS - Preloading with estrogen

I have had total hysterectomy with ovaries remvoed. I've posted several times concerning the possibility of endometrioma or incisional hernia. The docs have ruled out hernia, but still unsure if the problem I'm having is endometriosis related. My doc wants to do a lap to see what the problem is. He also wants to "preload" me with estrogen for a full 3 weeks before surgery. I haven't given my consent for surgery yet. Why preload me with estorgens? Is the purpose to make the endo grow if it's there? What are the side effects of a high dose of estrogen and how would it effect my overall hormone balance? Thanks for any info!
