Re: Why can't I keep up?From: Avalon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 10 Feb 2003 11:40:16 -0600 (CST)
Hi BJ, Thanks for commenting. I am sometimes a little slow getting to sleep due to the palpitations, but I don't have too much trouble staying asleep at this point, although I've had a couple of night sweats recently which I hope is not a trend. My problem with sleep is getting to bed too late because I'm always behind on something. But I suspect that the combination of endo, fibroids and problems with digestion (and perhaps nutrition secondarily) also contributes directly and significantly to the fatigue. My best female friend of nearly 30 years swears by Dr. John Lee's ideas and methods, and she often seems to have recurrences of various annoying symptoms when she tries to discontinue the progesterone cream. I've promised her I'll take a closer look at his site and books. I do think the body has its own wisdom, and trying to outsmart it usually gets us in trouble... I'm squarely in the "not nice to mess with mother nature" camp and though I prefer remedies that are derived from nature, I use even those things very conservatively. What worries me about Dr. Lee's approach is that it seems to me that a hormone is a hormone whether it is taken orally or applied to the skin, and hormones are very powerful agents. Furthermore I think it is difficult, if not impossible, for us to reliably determine that we have a hormone deficiency. In the past when I've looked at Dr. Lee's self-assessment tools they have not struck me as being terribly precise. But, I will have another look as promised to my friend! :-) I also have an appointment with my gynecologist this week. Thanks again and best wishes to you in dealing with all this midlife madness! :-)
