I'm new to this board and sorry if this has already been answered, there is such a wealth of information on here it's amazing to sort it all through. I have a quick question. I have tried to find reliable information on the effects of augmentin 825 on mircette. I have taken micette for 5 months continuously (relgiously!) and was just perscribed augmentin for a 10 day period for a sinus infection. Now I was a little concerned as I had been sexually active w/ partner the evening before it was perscribed. I've heard so many opinions on "all antibiotics decrease bcp's" to "augmentin won't effect mircette" and irregardless, if I need a back up method... Do I finish the whole cycle of mircette w/ a back up birth control... or is it: when I am done with the augmentin I am Okay to not have a back up birth control method or: a 7 day period like when the BCP was origionally started to insure protection w/back up method during that time? Or does augmetin not interfere with mircette in a way to reduce effectiveness? I would appreciate any and all information the professionals here can reply with. Thank you for your time.
