Hi Heather, Depression is a common symptom of synthetic progestins, like what is in the pill. The synthetics block the receptor sites so what little real progesterone is still being made in your body cannot do its job. Real progesterone is the opposite of synthetics, it actually is a mood enhancer. Some women are more sensitive to this side effect of the synthetics than others. You could use another form of birth control (non-hormonal) or take an antidepressant. I believe the first suggestion is a much healthier route. Take care and good luck! BJ
