I have noticed a brown discharge days before I expect to come on my period, accompanied by slight abdominal cramps. It doesn't seem to have a foul odor, but am a little worried because it appears to last for 3 or 4 days before my period is expected. I'm familiar with brown being a sign of old blood, but why is it present days before my period? I feel very concerned because I also have painful menstral cramps each month.
