Clomid is an antiestrogen drug that is used to induce ovulation but, as all drugs, it has side effects. One of them is that the endometrium might be thin and that generates spotting. If your Dr is planning to do an US to see if you have follicles in the ovaries, he will have a look at the endometrium.
