An important question about BV medication..

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and have bacterial vaginosis the doctor at the E.R. prescribed the medicine Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP which is for topical use only. He claims it's to treat bacterial vaginitis. The pharmacists doesn't think I should use it instead he wants me to get a prescription for the metrogel cause he feels that the Nystatin/Triamcinolone cream 30GM which is substituted for Mycolog-ll cream 30GM might not be safe for the baby. Even though the pregnancy catagory is C the pharmacist doesn't think this medication would cure BV.

Who do you think is right, the doctor at the E.R. or the pharmacist?

The doctor said to use the medication three times a day for a week, since it's a topical medication do I insert it inside the vagina?
