Could I become pregnant while on the pill?

I needed to know if there was a possibility the I could've become pregnant given the following factual info:

I JUST started taking Ortho-cyclene and what is considered a "Sunday Starter" on the pack. (The info on the inside of the pack is unclear to me.) The pills were prescribed to me several days ago...and I was to start them when I first got my period. (I FORGOT). First day period was Saturday Feb.1st. I started taking the pills on Sunday (Hence: "Sunday Starter").And have been taking them daily since. Period has been "normal"...by the 4th....extremely light...had intercourse this morning in which resulted in "my better half" not pulling out. Well, he assumed that it was ok, given the fact that I just started taking the pill. (I'm not so sure that I'm protected from "Day1"...because I didn't start taking the pills on the first day my period started.)

The info was unclear: if I started taking the pills the same day as my period started, then I'd be protected from Day1...but if I started taking the pills a day after my period had begun...then I'd have to take the pills for a week in order to be protected. What's the difference with the ONE day? And should I be looking to seek out an ECP? This is not the best time for this to be happening to us.
